David Chaum Releases a "Potential Replacement for Physical Cash"
Cryptocurrency pioneer David Chaum is launching a new digital currency, Praxxis. Chaum says that it has the security, stability and scalability to become a potential replacement of physical cash. Praxxis is expected to serve as a payments platform and is built on the Elixir blockchain. If successful, it will fulfil Chaum's view of Satoshi Nakamoto's original vision for bitcoin to be a "purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash."

Ex-operator of Zaif Platform to Close Down Cryptocurrency Business
Tech Bureau Corp., which operated the Zaif cryptocurrency platform until it was hit by a massive hack, said Thursday it will close down its virtual currency exchange business once it has completed refunding customers.

Intel, Google, Microsoft, and others Launch Confidential Computing Consortium for Data Security
Major tech companies including Alibaba, Arm, Baidu, IBM, Intel, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Red Hat today announced intent to form the Confidential Computing Consortium to improve security for data in use. Established by the Linux Foundation, the organization plans to bring together hardware vendors, developers, open source experts, and others to promote the use of confidential computing, advance common open source standards, and better protect data.

The solution is being presented as a modern alternative to blurring and pixilation, creating photorealistic images that still respect the privacy of real-life individuals. Smart Anonymization does not profile subjects during the anonymization process and preserves non-identifying attributes like age, gender, and gaze direction, so the videos it creates can still be analyzed for commercial purposes.
As a result, the tech allows companies to make use of footage gathered in smart cities, retail outlets, and other public areas while remaining compliant with the latest privacy standards.
