MasterCard and China UnionPay Signed New Payment Gateway Service Pact

China UnionPay, leading Chinese bank and MasterCard Worldwide have signed a Payment Gateway Service Agreement pact that will help to process transactions made using UnionPay Cards for e-commerce merchants outside mainland China. Payment Gateway is a business-to-business payment processing platform that will be configured to accept China UnionPay Cards.

UnionPay and MasterCard also announced that both parties have signed an Addendum to extend the term of their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The areas of cooperation included within the scope of the Addendum and Payment Gateway Service Agreement are related to cross-border transactions and not domestic transactions. MOU is signed to establish a mutually beneficial relationship to explore future business development.



Erste & Visa Launched Contactless Payment for CEE Transport

Erste Bank and Visa have started their first contactless card - 'Smile' with transport application and loyalty rewards in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The Smile card allows contactless payments of up to 25-Euros ($36).

Banca Comerciala Romana's (BCR) contactless card deploys the same smartcard technology as that of Transport for London's Oyster cards and allows the card holders to pay for travel fares by simply swiping their card past a contactless reader.

The Smile contactless card will be introduced by BCR the largest Romanian bank by assets and a member of Erste Group Bank, and has already been implemented 4 weeks ago in the Romanian capital of Bucharest. To date, 5,000 cards have been issued by BCR.



Mobile Phone Biometric Security Market to Reach $161 Million by 2015

According to a Goode Intelligence research report - "Mobile Phone Biometric Security", the worldwide mobile phone biometric security market will grow to $161 million by 2015, up from $30 million in 2011.

The report predicts the initial increase of mobile phone biometric security products will come from embedded fingerprint sensors designed to protect the device and from voice biometric applications, which will be used as part of multi-factor authentication.

Alan Goode, author of the report and founder of Goode Intelligence said: "Motorola has been heavily marketing the security benefits of using biometrics (fingerprint sensor) to protect its latest Android smartphone, the Atrix. It is even being called the 'James Bond' smartphone".

Key drivers of mobile phone biometric market growth include device security protection, mobile commerce, contactless technology, multi-factor authentication, and military and law enforcement applications, such as capturing biometric data and verifying identity in the field.



LEGIC IC Cards and Readers for China

China-based Shenzhen Mingwah Aohan Technology Co., Ltd has teamed up with LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, to offer new contactless IC cards and readers in China. The contactless IC cards and readers will find applications in e-ticketing, as social welfare cards and in payments sector.

Mingwah is a specialist of RFID tags, smart cards, microprocessor cards and reading devices. LEGIC Identsystems Ltd is a leading supplier of contactless and secure smart card technology platform. The LEGIC advant technology will be applied in identification credentials as well as in access control systems, solutions for electronic payment or multifunctional applications.



Encrypted Data Solution Launched Exclusively for BlackBerry

Adeya, the Swiss-based leading encryption company, announced the launch of its new data encryption solution for BlackBerry smartphones. The solution will add a first secure data channel to its existing voice encryption services. The new end-to-end Adeya encryption solution guarantees secured transmission of data, voice and messaging simultaneously over wireless public networks.

India Gets Facebook Credits from Today

Today, the popular social networking site Facebook has introduced its virtual currency 'Facebook Credits' in India. The online payments system enables members to purchase various games or applications for use on Facebook.

Introduction of 'Facebook Credits' in India will also help various brands, which use the medium of Facebook to retail goods through their social pages.

Facebook Platform Marketing Manager Deb Liu commented: "Facebook Credits is currently used in more than 350 applications from 150 developers, representing more than 70 per cent of virtual goods transactions volume on Facebook".

Most online game developers such as Zynga, Playfish, PopCap, CrowdStar, Digital Chocolate and Arkadium have already adopted Facebook Credits for in-game virtual goods.



Cellcrypt Offers New Voice Call Encryption for iPhones

Cellcrypt, a provider of encrypted voice calling on mobile phones, has launched a new version of its encrypted voice calling application - Cellcrypt Mobile for iPhone that runs on Apple devices running iOS and operates over Wi-Fi, GSM,CDMA and satellite networks.

Cellcrypt Mobile for iPhone offers voice call encryption for commercially available off-the-shelf mobile phones using government-certified security through a downloadable application that makes highly secure calling easy.

The company claims that the software-only offering that uses the IP data channel of cellular (2G, 3G, and 4G), Wi-Fi and satellite networks can be deployed to personnel anywhere in the world in less than 10 minutes.

With support to iOS 4 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, it is interoperable with Cellcrypt running on other devices such as Nokia, Android and BlackBerry smartphones.

The new version from Cellcrypt uses cryptography certified to US government National Institute of Standards and Technology FIPS 140-2 security standard. "The information assurance authority in the UK has awarded the software-only offering with CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM)", the company said.
