CreditCall Introduces Contactless Kernel to its EMV Product Range

CreditCall has added Contactless.LIB, a full contactless payment capability, to its EMV Level 2 range of software Kernels. Terminal manufacturers and payment software developers can now quickly and easily integrate Contactless Kernel technology into their solutions to mitigate against the high cost of development and maintenance.

The fully featured Contactless Kernel enables acceptance of Visa contactless and MasterCard PayPass enabled cards in retail and unattended environments. It meets all current Visa, MasterCard and current EMVCo standards and allows support for additional contactless card schemes. Contactless.LIB supports MasterCard's PayPass M/Chip and M/Stripe in addition to Visa's qVSDC and MSD functionality.

The first deployment of Contactless.LIB is likely to be in the transportation ticketing sector, where there are a number of developers working on adding Contactless capability to existing ITSO ticketing equipment and terminals.

CreditCall's CTO Jeremy Gumbley stated "We want to ensure Contactless payment can be used more widely. The development of an independent Contactless Kernel will contribute towards an increased deployment of this technology as it provides manufacturers and payment software developers more freedom in choosing the best solution for their products. The development of a Contactless Kernel further enhances our EMV Kernel product line and demonstrates CreditCall's technology leadership in the area."



Contactless Card Payments to Launch at McDonald's

McDonald's customers will soon be able to benefit from lightning-fast contactless card payments as the restaurant chain rolls out contactless card payment in all of its 1,200 UK restaurants by this summer.

The system is being launched jointly with Visa Europe and is the UK's largest rollout of contactless technology. Marc O'Brien, Managing Director of Visa in the UK, "We are delighted McDonalds is accepting Visa contactless payments. This innovative way of paying is ideal for high volume retail environments where speed of service is essential. It offers a secure, convenient and quick alternative to cash while reducing queuing times."



The ProCard Group Transitions to Checkpoint Card Technology, LLC

The ProCard Group LLC, a premier provider of printed, blank plastic cards and card information services, today announced its official corporate name change to Checkpoint Card Technology, LLC. A new logo, website address and other branding initiatives will launch in February 2011.

The name Checkpoint Card Technology LLC reinforces the company's commitment to the long-term, strategic advancement of customers in the identification, gift and blank card markets. Continuing ProCard's established tradition of working closely with customers, Checkpoint will help strengthen their product offerings, thereby allowing them to grow their businesses successfully.



The Next Step for Facebook Credits

Facebook Credits is a virtual currency that enables fast and easy transactions across games on Facebook. With Facebook Credits, people enter their payment information once and can buy, earn and spend safely across lots of different games. Facebook Credits is currently used in more than 350 applications from 150 developers, representing more than 70% of virtual goods transactions volume on Facebook.

Starting July 1st, we will require all social game developers on the Facebook canvas platform to process payments through Facebook Credits. All developers keep 70% of the revenue from virtual goods transactions using Facebook Credits. Although we are not requiring developers to use Facebook Credits as their sole in-game currency, we are offering special incentives to those who do (see below for details).

Over the next five months, we will work closely with developers to onboard those who are not yet using Facebook Credits, collect feedback to improve the product, continue to innovate on the user experience, and help developers grow their revenue on Facebook. We're excited to give Facebook users the confidence that when they purchase Facebook Credits or receive them as a gift, they can spend them in any game on Facebook.



Debenhams and PrePay Solutions Receive Industry Recognition for Christmas Savings Card

Debenhams and PrePay Solutions have been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award. The Christmas Savings Card, developed by PrePay Solutions for Debenhams, has been nominated for Best Card Benefits Programme of the Year at the Card & Payment Awards.

The innovative prepaid programme takes the form of a closed-loop card which gives Debenhams customers the chance to load money onto Christmas Saver cards throughout the year. During November a bonus is applied to the cards which can be spent with the customer's funds to purchase merchandise and gifts during the festive season.

Gilles Coccoli, managing director at PrePay Solutions, adds: "The Christmas Savings Card is an innovative product in many ways, and one that is coming in to its own at this time of year, with many shoppers using the card for their Christmas shopping. We're delighted to have achieved such valuable industry recognition for the card, and have our fingers crossed for the awards in February!"

The Card & Payments Awards recognise excellence, innovation and customer service in the card and payments industry. The finalists will be announced at the dinner and ceremony on 3rd February 2011 in London.
