Ingenico and Cybertill's Revolutionary POS for Independent UK Retailers

Ingenico, the leading provider of payment solutions in partnership with Cybertill, the UK's leading EPoS and e-commerce provider, have launched WebPOS - a revolutionary point of sale solution for single store independent retailers, which could spell the end of the cash register.

WebPOS combines Ingenico's best of breed point of sale hardware, the iWP200 series, with Cybertill's Retail Store One, a cloud-based EPoS software, specifically designed for independent retailers. WebPOS is an all in one integrated solution that not only improves payment processing, but also manages stock, tracks customer preferences, generates reports on fast moving products and slow sellers, and will even help to reduce theft.

By automating many of the processes that retailers currently carry out manually, the solution provides small retailers with significant time and cost savings, whilst increasing the efficiency of their business operations. The solution will go to pilot in a number of independent retailers in April this year and rolled out nationally thereafter.

Visa Offers New Card-To-Card Cash Transfer System

Visa has launched a new person-to-person payment service that lets consumers transfer funds in near real-time to other cards over the VisaNet network. The service was activated for the first time by Russia's largest payment kiosk operator, 1st Processing Bank (QIWI Group), and Ukraine's largest bank, PrivatBank earlier this week. Visa is rolling the service out internationally, with a view to capturing market share from PayPal, and other emerging mobile remittance platforms.

Senders simply need to provide their bank with the recipient's Visa card number to initiate the payment. Visa says the process does away with the need for senders to fill out complicated forms and provide routing information such as bank codes and branch addresses. When processed through VisaNet, funds are credited directly to the eligible Visa credit, debit or prepaid account in minutes, freeing recipients from having to visit agent locations to collect cash.

'X Undercover' Attacks 1, 50,000 Mobile Phones in China

A mobile phone virus has infected 150,000 devices in China allowing hackers to remotely monitor calls, according to the Beijing Times. Named 'X Undercover', the virus takes advantage of existing vulnerabilities in smartphones by forcing the three-way calling service to secretly open.

It allows conversations and text messages to be monitored and copied after the virus breaks into the calling sequence, said Zou Shihong, a security expert with NetQin Mobile Inc. The virus can also secretly video the phone's owner, retrieve call and text records as well as pinpoint the user's latest GPS position, reports the China Daily .

HID Global Offers Contactless Smart Cards to Healthcare Firm for Employee Re-Badging

HID Global, a provider of delivery solutions of secure identity, announced that it enabled the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network (AEHN) to simplify the re-badging of more than 7,000 personnel. The re-badging came in the wake of the AEHN's spin-off and corporate re-branding, while migrating to higher-security 13.56 MHz contactless technologies.

Russell Jones, network director for Protective Services at AEHN said: "HID Global provided the existing Wiegand magstripe system at AEHN, so it was a natural progression to upgrade the access control system and produce badges using HID Global's solutions".

AEHN selected HID's iCLASS contactless smart cards for higher levels of security than the traditional access-control technologies. AEHN will also gain from a platform that incorporates AEHN's KRONOS payroll system and other applications such as single sign-on and cashless vending.

Recently, HID Global received a major contract from Chinese telecom operator China Unicom for using its smart card readers in the carrier's personalised service. China Unicom had deployed the desktop smart card readers (OMNIKEY 1021) at its stores in more than 20 provinces and cities across the country.
