Intellect Secures $2.5 Million Contract

Australian company Intellect announced a $2.5 million contract for electronic payment systems in Germany.

The German authorities have approved the new generation of Intellect Sapphire wireless terminals, giving Intellect an opportunity to get into the expected huge market of 400,000 terminals which have to be replaced due to the introduction of the Euro and the new EMV payment standards.

HID Appoints Databac as European Partner

The HID Corporation, a security technology company, has appointed Databac Group, a provider of identification solutions, as their European business partner to manufacture and supply polyester Wiegand wire, Smart and proximity cards and readers, and to provide HID with card bureau services.

HID technologies comprise of Wiegand Wire, Smart chip and proximity, which Databac embeds in a variety of predominately polyester plastic materials to produce cards recognised in the industry for their flexibility and durability.

The Databac bureau will overprint HID's ISOProx 11, IQCard, IQcard Prox and ProxCard 11 clamshell cards. The factory encoding service offered by Databac relates to 26-bit Wiegand, clock and data and other client agreed formats.

"Millennium Product" Now Available with CardMan USB

The UK's Design Council recognised "Millennium Product" PhoneFile PRO is a software product that runs on almost any PC, enabling the user to manage the contacts database stored in their mobile phone's SIM card. The software is supplied with a Smart Card reader that enables the contents of the SIM card to be accessed by the PC.

The CardMan USB is a mini SIM reader that will accept a mini-SIM card directly, without the need for an adapter or carrier card. The reader is 6cm X 2cm and plugs into a spare USB port or hub either directly or using an extension cable which is supplied. The package sells for around 45.

San Francisco Bay Area Tests Smart Card Ticketing

A pilot is currently being trailed in the San Francisco bay area of the TransLink Universal Transit-fare Card.

The TransLink card will be tested on selected routes and at certain stations of six of the regions largest transit agencies: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, San Francisco Muni and Valley Transportation Authority. Together these systems will integrate ferries, streetcars, buses and commuter rail. All together 18 rail stations, 31 bus lines, three ferry terminals, two light rail lines and 50 transfer points have been outfitted with specialised TransLink card-reader equipment.

CRYPTOCard CA 5.16 Delivers Smart Card for Windows 2000 and XP Support

CRYPTOCard, specialising in Secure Password Technology has announced its new administration and security server- CRYPTOAdmin 5.16, for the Microsoft Windows environment.

CA 5.16 supports the CRYPTOCard Smart Card for Windows 2000, soft token support for Windows XP users, CRYPTOLogon for Windows 2000 networks, Microsoft IAS RADIUS server support and support for Microsoft's Windows 2000 certificate server.

The SC-1 Smart Card makes logging on to a Windows 2000 network as easy as using an ATM card. CRYPTOCard's CA 5.16 Technology also won the Comdex Best of Show - Security award.
